About the Role

We are working in partnership with an NHS service in London to recruit a dedicated and motivated Occupational Therapist to join a supportive multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality care to older adults with mental health needs, including dementia. This role offers the opportunity to work autonomously within community settings, supporting service users in their own homes to maximise independence, wellbeing, and recovery through evidence-based occupational therapy interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver person-centred, evidence-based occupational therapy assessments and interventions for older adults with mental health conditions.
  • Manage and prioritise a varied caseload, using strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, liaising with internal colleagues and external agencies.
  • Support service users to identify goals, plan care, and review outcomes, promoting independence and recovery.
  • Work safely and autonomously within service users’ homes, adhering to risk management and lone-working policies.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with data protection requirements.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development (CPD) and reflective practice.
  • Supervise occupational therapy students or junior staff once competencies are achieved.

Essential Requirements

  • Current HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist
  • A clear interest in working with older adults with mental health conditions and/or dementia
  • Knowledge and application of evidence-based practice
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of mental health policy and government strategies relating to older adults
  • Understanding of medication used in older adult mental health care
  • Confident use of IT systems and understanding of information governance
