About the Role
We are recruiting an Assistant Practitioner / Healthcare Assistant to join a busy and supportive primary care team at St Peter’s Health Centre. This is a varied role supporting both clinical and administrative services, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake new patient health checks and baseline observations (BP, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation)
- Support delivery of health promotion and chronic disease management clinics
- Carry out venepuncture, ECGs, and routine clinical procedures
- Administer flu vaccinations (when trained)
- Provide wound care, dressings, and minor clinical interventions
- Assist with minor procedures and chaperone duties
- Prepare and maintain clinical rooms, equipment, and stock levels
- Ensure accurate clinical documentation and record keeping
- Support specimen handling and ensure safe transfer
- Deliver patient education and opportunistic health promotion
Essential Requirements
- Healthcare qualification (Level 3 or equivalent) or working towards
- Experience working in a healthcare setting
- Competent in venepuncture and ECGs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Good IT skills and ability to maintain accurate patient records
Desirable
- Experience in primary care or GP practice settings
- Phlebotomy and vaccination certification
- Experience supporting chronic disease clinics
- Knowledge of clinical systems such as SystmOne or EMIS
- Experience in wound care and minor procedures
