To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add an EHS Lead, located in Kendal. Reporting to the Head of EHS UK & IRE, the EHS Lead will be responsible for providing immediate supervision to a group of employees for the implementation of complex activities related to the efficient management of Environmental Health & Safety programs in offices and manufacturing sites to ensure that the required company and government standards and regulations are met.
- Overall responsibility for EHS across our Kendal facilities
- Understand and ensure that the implications and duties imposed by legislation are communicated
- Communicate Environmental, Health & Safety matters to the Senior Management Team
- Ensure adequate means of distributing and communicating health, safety and welfare information obtained for the regulatory bodies, Safety organisations and Trade associations regarding new techniques of accident prevention, new legislation requirements and codes of practice
- Ensure that an adequate programme of training for health and safety is established and that the safety culture is encouraged amongst employees
- Ensure all personnel using the correct personal protective clothing/equipment and following all safety requirements and procedures
- Develop departmental vision and build the departmental culture and work standards
- Strategic and tactical responsibility for implementing Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental strategy and strategic operational goals
- Coordinate and maintain Organisational Management Systems (ISO 45001 & ISO 14001) to ensure the effective management of Health, Safety and Environment matters at the Site Services Offices and on Operational Sites
- Create and implement EHS strategy, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance
- Review and approve EHS activities for effective issues resolution
Requirements:
- Relevant degree and demonstrable experience in a similar role, ideally within a large Manufacturing/Construction business
- Thorough knowledge of ISO: 45001 and ISO: 14001 standards
- Experience working / communicating with sub-contractors
- Member of IOSH or NEBOSH
- Ability to advise on EHS issues and lead day-to-day EHS activities
- Full driving licence is essential as travel between sites is required
- Fantastic written and verbal communication skills, ability to organise own workload and use initiative
- Efficient with thorough methods of working
- Ability to follow through on Corrective Actions and identify positive and negative acts
