Your responsibilities as a Customs Entry Clerk include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Digitally prepare and file all documentation required to custom clear goods using our bespoke software, managing a large client base shipping multiple commodities.
  • Review, organize, and analyze incoming documents to ensure compliance with local Customs Regulations, and provide necessary documentation to other government agencies when required (MSA, IPAFFs, etc.).
  • Confidently classify goods and provide expert advice to clients. Identify opportunities to use Preferential Trade Agreements on a per-shipment basis and understand how to read free trade agreements.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with clients by providing first-class customer service. Be obsessed with finding solutions, thinking outside the box, and becoming a trusted trade advisor.
  • Manage mid-level projects within the team to drive operational processes and efficiency.

Prerequisites:

  • Experience in customs, including handling customs declarations and managing a high volume of entries and clients.
  • Familiarity with Customs product classification, the UK tariff, and handling a range of commodities including goods requiring specific licenses. Understanding of special procedures is a bonus.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with next-level logistical problem-solving abilities—finding solutions to complex client problems is essential.
  • An obsession with client happiness and success. High level of computer literacy with an all-digital, paperless approach.
