The HR Manager will provide expertise and leadership to a growing, technically complex, people-focused organisation. In this role you will be responsible for improving and monitoring adherence to all company HR policies and procedures and will work alongside the site leadership to develop an inclusive, rewarding and open environment. The focus of this role is to ensure that FMS attracts, hires, retains and rewards employees, whilst providing excellent development opportunities and supporting and developing a high performing organisation. This role will form part of the site management team and will report to the Chief Executive Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Recruitment Activities: Manage relationships with external recruitment partner(s) and oversee all company recruitment.
- Manage Employee Benefit Scheme: Analyse take up of existing benefits, promote and maintain benefits package, including review from time to time of range of benefits and providers. Responsible for all scheme administration and renewals.
- Support New Hires: Assume ownership of onboarding and induction processes, and improving where required.
- Oversee Performance Management Activities: Provide professional input into employee performance and any disciplinary matters, ensuring adherence to UK employment law at all times and minimising risk to the business.
- Further Develop Employee Retention and Engagement Strategy: Administer and improve process to effectively monitor employee engagement, using tools such as iCOUNT (employee survey) to collect data and make recommendations to leadership. Ensure any systemic issues are identified and addressed.
- Training and Development: Own training and development processes, working with finance to secure supporting grant funding. Recommend and oversee Leadership / Management training programs. Develop and introduce coaching and mentoring programs.
- Manage Employee Performance Review Process: Co-ordinate annual ‘Go-FAR’ (performance appraisal) activities. Work with leadership to ensure fairness and consistency across the organisation.
- Ensure Adherence to Company Policies: Oversee, create and maintain all policies – ensuring compliance to governing laws and regulations. Administer BreatheHR – the company HR management software. Advise employees and management as appropriate.
- Support managers and the extended leadership team: Provide expert advice and guidance to managers and the extended leadership team on employment law issues and HR policy, to reduce organisational risk and establish and maintain an engaged, high performing workforce.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Management or a related discipline. However, consideration will be given where significant industry experience and accomplishment can be demonstrated in lieu of academic qualifications, likely accompanied by CIPD qualifications.
- A wealth of proven experience in a similar industry.
- A solid understanding of UK employment law.
- Be expert user of electronic HR Systems, including recruitment and applicant tracking.
- Be a highly competent interviewer.
- Demonstrate solid experience of compensation and employee benefits management.
- Be skilled at managing complex, personal situations with individuals.
- Have developed and managed employee performance review processes.
- Have developed and managed training and development programmes, e.g. Management and Leadership Development and Coaching and Mentoring.
- Be flexible and be able to manage and deliver a range of people-related activities in parallel, depending on business priorities and needs.
- Able to work autonomously and communicate clearly across the business.
- Have designed and delivered culture focused, organisational development programs.
- Skilled mediator, able to support with conflict resolution.
- Have specific experience with BreatheHR.
- Understand corporate law.
- Are a trained coach, ideally at executive level.
- Have experience with succession planning.
- Have worked in contract manufacturing and/or organisations developing diagnostic tests.
