Job Functions
- CAD modeling and creation of 2D for aircraft interior modifications and integration of components.
- Responsible for quality control of in-house engineering and monitoring of engineering firms. This includes:
- Translate customer specifications to engineering design key characteristics
- Recommend solutions to customers requests.
- Review of design functional and physical attributes against customer and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with production to resolve technical snags in the most efficient means possible
- Provide design troubleshooting and technical support to planning, purchasing, fabrication, and install teams
- Issue design corrections or updates as needed to ensure continued accuracy.
- Promote cooperation and teamwork among staff
Experience and Education Requirements
- A degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role
- Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Expertise in design, testing, and risk analysis of mechanical systems and aircraft structures
- Basic knowledge of applicable standards and regulations (in particular CAR425/FAR25 as it applies to aircraft interiors)
- Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Experience in CATIA V5
- Work experience in aircraft interior completions
- P.Eng. accreditation, eligibility for P.Eng., or a foreign equivalent registration
Skills/Abilities
- Candidates must be able to adapt to organization changes, new procedures, and new methods.
- Excellent report writing, problem resolution, communication and presentation skills
- Excellent communication and project management skills
Working Conditions
- Frequent or occasional periods of time are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about.
- Occasionally required to stop or lift light material or equipment.
- Time is split between computer work and time on the aircraft or at the shops.
- Occasional to frequent need to give concentrated attention, either hearing, seeing, visualizing, drafting, to what is happening and work being performed.
- Pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands exists.
- Candidates should have flexibility regarding hours of work as some extended days and/or weekend working can be a feature of employment in order to support deliverables.
