Salary: £48,687.50

Hours of work: Average of 38.5 hours a week

Shifts: Panama shifts, covering days 07.00am to 19.00pm and nights 19.00pm to 07.00am.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Shift Engineer to join us in our engineering department. Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will assess and support machinery operational and safety performance at the Dunstable site, record issues found, and corrective actions taken to rectify issues, as well as respond to breakdowns.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • To routinely assess the machinery and report any defects that need attention to the Engineering Manager.
  • To make safe and if necessary, prohibit the use of any machine that is liable to cause injury to any employee or visitor to the site.
  • To communicate all areas of concern regarding the Plant, buildings, and machinery to the Engineering Manager.
  • Trouble shooting and resolve of problem in conjunction with the Shift Managers where necessary.
  • Stock checks and requests for parts where necessary.
  • Routine plant checks, chillers/compressors/vacuum systems.
  • Carrying out any other appropriate instructions/tasks necessary to the success of the business as determined by Engineering Manager.

  • A can-do attitude, able to overcome obstacles with a team approach.
  • Organisational and planning skills to manage your time and to meet deadlines and objectives.

Knowledge, training, and experience required:

  • Must have proven experience in FMCG environment.
  • Apprentice trained to minimum level 3, with relevant qualifications in mechanical or electrical engineering disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience in using workshop equipment and tools, e.g., mitre saw, pillar drill and hand tools.
  • Experience gained from working in a food / pharmaceutical environment.
