We are recruiting for a Workshop Controller/ Manager to join a busy, modern independent garage in Northampton. This is a great opportunity to join a business that stands out from the norm. This role will suit either an experienced workshop controller who is reliable and organised, and ready to take ownership of the day‑to‑day operations within the workshop. The role will involve:

  • Allocate service, repair and diagnostic work to technicians based on their skill set
  • Monitor individual technician performance and ensuring jobs are completed
  • Act as the technical bridge for the service advisors, providing updates so the customers can be kept up to date
  • Liaising with technicians to keep track of work in progress
  • Overseeing quality control checks on all completed work, ensuring every vehicle leaves the workshop satisfied
  • To oversee the parts coordination by monitoring the arrival of parts and ensuring technicians have everything required to do the job
  • To be able to motivate, mentor and manage the workshop team
  • Making sure customers receive a professional and well-managed experience throughout

We are looking for:

  • Previous experience as a Service Advisor, or a customer-focused background within the motor trade
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Good organisation and the ability to manage a busy workload
  • Confidence in dealing with customers in a professional way
  • Automotive or mechanical knowledge would be an advantage
