A growing construction and refurbishment contractor delivering MoD and housing association projects across Kent and South East London is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join its finance team in Rochester. This is a hands‑on, part‑time role suited to someone confident managing finance processes independently within a busy construction environment.
The Role Responsibilities will include:
- Bank reconciliations and cash flow monitoring
- Preparing supplier payment runs
- Monthly reconciliations (bank, credit card, stock)
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Posting journals (accruals, prepayments, HP agreements)
- Managing CIS processes including subcontractor verification, deductions and monthly returns
- Supporting year‑end processes
Requirements:
- Proven bookkeeping experience, ideally within construction
- Strong knowledge of VAT, reconciliations and journal postings
- Experience handling CIS payments and returns
- Able to work independently and manage workload effectively
- AAT part‑qualified or currently studying (final year preferred)
