The Opportunity

Pencil and Brick is seeking a Project Architect to join its growing architectural team. This role will suit an experienced ARB-registered Architect who enjoys taking ownership of projects from concept through delivery, while mentoring junior team members and contributing to the wider development of a design-led practice. You will manage multiple residential projects simultaneously, working closely with the Design Team Lead and construction teams to deliver exceptional private residential schemes. This is a long-term career opportunity with clear progression into senior leadership and director-level positions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and delivering multiple architectural projects day-to-day
  • Coordinating design stages from concept through technical delivery
  • Preparing planning and building regulation submissions
  • Producing technical drawings, specifications and presentation material
  • Supporting construction teams with technical design input
  • Leading client interactions and managing project experience
  • Mentoring and supporting junior architectural staff
  • Collaborating with senior management to improve processes and delivery

Requirements

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • ARB registration with minimum 5 years post-registration UK practice experience
  • Strong private residential project experience
  • Proven Project Architect experience
  • Ability to manage projects independently
  • Excellent technical and design coordination skills
  • Strong communication and client-facing ability
  • Alignment with Pencil and Brick's collaborative, values-led culture

Desirable Experience

  • Senior Project Architect experience
  • Experience leading small design teams
  • Vectorworks experience (or willingness to learn)
  • Experience delivering architect-led residential projects end-to-end
  • Comfortable working primarily from the Brick Lane studio (Friday WFH policy)
