A growing engineering company in the Medway area is looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer to support the Director in delivering machinery installation, removal and relocation projects across the South East. This is a rare chance to step into a role with serious long-term progression. The Director wants a genuine right-hand person who can grow with the company with planned acquisitions and expansion already in motion. The Role at a Glance
- Attend customer sites to survey machinery and assess project requirements
- Produce quotations, costings, project programmes and technical documentation (RAMS, lift plans)
- Work with the Operations Manager to plan labour, equipment and resources
- Present quotations and negotiate where required; all enquiries are inbound
- Visit live sites to monitor progress, support the team and manage variations
- Coordinate safe and efficient delivery of each project
- Act as a key support to the Director as the business grows
What We're Looking For
This role suits someone mechanically minded, confident with customers, and comfortable working both in the office and on the road. Suitable backgrounds include:
- Project Engineer or Contract Manager (mechanical bias)
- Mechanically biased engineer looking to step into project delivery
- Installation Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or Foreman seeking progression
- Anyone experienced with industrial machinery, plant or factory equipment
Essential skills:
- Strong mechanical understanding
- Clear communication and customer confidence
- Good organisational skills and practical problem-solving ability
- Competent with Word, Excel and general IT
- Full UK driving licence
- Willing to travel across the South East
Desirable (or trainable):
- Appointed Person (lifting operations)
- 2D CAD for lift planning
- Experience writing RAMS or method statements
