We are seeking an experienced Senior Sous Chef to join the leadership team of a well-established boutique hotel and restaurant in the heart of Edinburgh.

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside a passionate Head Chef, helping to drive culinary excellence across a busy food operation that is renowned for delivering exceptional guest experiences.

The Role

As Senior Sous Chef, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the kitchen, supporting the Head Chef in leading, developing and inspiring the brigade.

You will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of food quality, consistency and presentation while ensuring efficient kitchen operations.

Key responsibilities include

  • Supporting the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen management
  • Leading service and ensuring dishes are delivered to exceptional standards
  • Training, mentoring and developing junior chefs
  • Assisting with menu development and seasonal specials
  • Managing stock control, ordering and supplier relationships
  • Maintaining food safety, hygiene and HACCP standards
  • Monitoring kitchen costs, waste management and GP targets
  • Acting as Head Chef in their absence

About You

  • Previous experience as a Senior Sous Chef or an experienced Sous Chef ready to step up
  • A strong background in fresh food and high-quality dining
  • Excellent leadership and team development skills
  • A passion for creating outstanding dishes using seasonal ingredients
  • Strong organisational and communication abilities
  • Sound knowledge of food safety and kitchen compliance standards
