Flexible People Ltd are currently recruiting for a Drivers Mate to work alongside our lorry drivers for a well-known client based in Speke. As a Drivers Mate, you will assist with the delivery of large household goods to residential properties. The items you will be delivering include flat pack furniture, gym equipment, white goods, and other bulky products.
Due to the weight of these deliveries, applicants must be physically fit and capable of carrying heavy items safely. The client operates seven days a week, and Drivers Mate staff will receive a weekly rota consisting of 5-6 shifts. Weekend work is essential and will be expected as part of the role. Please only apply if you are available to work both weekends and weekdays. Start times are 6:00am, with shifts typically lasting between 9 and 11 hours.
As a Drivers Mate, you will also be responsible for contacting customers ahead of delivery to provide estimated arrival times. Excellent communication, telephone manner, and customer service skills are essential, as you will be representing the client during every delivery. You will also receive full training to become a Banksman, ensuring you are positioned safely outside the vehicle whenever the lorry is reversing to guide the driver and maintain site safety. Full training will be provided, and this forms an important part of the Drivers Mate role.
Following a successful application, all new Drivers Mate employees must attend a mandatory induction day before starting work. Applicants must be able to commute reliably to Speke. Please note that drug and alcohol testing may be carried out at any time at the client's discretion. A drug test will also be completed during the induction process.
Pay Rates
- £13.05 per hour
- Overtime paid at £19.58 per hour
