Flexible People Ltd are currently recruiting Drivers Mates to work alongside experienced 7.5t lorry drivers for a well-established client based in Southampton.

The Role

As a Drivers Mate, you will assist with the delivery of large items to residential properties, including:

  • Flat-pack furniture
  • Gym equipment
  • White goods

This is a physically demanding role and requires a good level of fitness, as heavy lifting is involved.

Working Hours & Shifts

The client operates 7 days a week. You will receive a weekly of 4 shifts, however you can be offered up to 5 or 6 if you want them. Weekend work is required and expected. Start time: 06:00. Shift length: approximately 9-11 hours per day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting the driver with safe delivery of goods
  • Calling customers ahead of arrival to provide delivery updates
  • Delivering excellent customer service at all times
  • Acting as a Banksman when the lorry is reversing (full training provided)

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Be physically fit and capable of lifting heavy items
  • Be reliable, organised, and punctual
  • Have strong communication and customer service skills
  • Be able to reliably commute to Southampton
  • Own your own steel toe cap safety boots and high-visibility vest

Training & Compliance

Attendance at a mandatory induction day is required before starting. Drug testing may be carried out at any time, including during induction.

Pay

£13.05 per hour. £19.73 per hour overtime, paid for hours worked over 48 hours per week.
