Flexible People Ltd are currently seeking a skilled and reliable HGV Shunter to join our team, working for a very well known client of ours, based in Croydon.
Please note that this is a night shift, weekend only position.
The days and hours for this role –
Friday -18.00 – 0600
Saturday -18.00 – 0600
Sunday – 1800 – 0600
As an HGV Shunter, you will be responsible for safely maneuvering heavy goods vehicles (7.5t HGVs) within our facility. This is a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our logistics and transportation processes.
Responsibilities:

Safely and efficiently moving HGV’s to the loading bays, for the warehouse workers to load the lorries. Await confirmation of fulfilment from the warehouse, in order to move the loaded lorries away and the empty lorries in. Good communication skills are essential due to the need to frequently communicate with the warehouse team.

Ensure that all loaded lorries are safe to be sent out – check all loads to ensure that the weight distribution is correct and secure and raise any health and safety concerns in the correct manner.

Conduct pre and post-shift inspections of the vehicles to ensure they are in legal, working condition. If any vehicles are defective, fill in the appropriate paperwork to take the vehicle off the road for repair.
-Ensure that the vehicles and loads match up with the rota and crew lists scheduled for the following day.

Communicate effectively with other team members and supervisors regarding any issues or concerns.

Ensure all activity from the nightshift is documented, in order to provide a thorough handover to the day shift workers.

Adhere to all traffic rules and regulations while operating the HGVs

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shunting area
Valid commercial driving license (HGV license)

Proven experience in a similar role

Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Good communication skills, both verbal and written

Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks as required
The pay rate is £19.00 per hour
