The role starts as a 3.5t van driver on a 13-week temporary-to-permanent basis. Candidates who successfully complete this period and demonstrate the right attitude, reliability and performance will have the opportunity to upskill to HGV driving and attend the company's in-house HGV Driver School. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to use a 3.5t driving role as a stepping stone towards becoming an HGV Driver.

The Role:

As a Sofa Installation Expert / 3.5t Van Driver, you will be responsible for delivering sofas and furniture directly to customers' homes. You will have a Driver's Mate working alongside you, helping with the safe handling and delivery of furniture. Your day will involve:

  • Driving a 3.5t delivery van safely and responsibly.
  • Following your own allocated routes and completing your scheduled deliveries.
  • Delivering sofas and furniture to customers' homes.
  • Safely maneuvering and handling large items of furniture.
  • Installing and positioning furniture within customers' homes.
  • Providing excellent customer service and representing the company professionally.
  • Completing relevant delivery paperwork and using delivery technology.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and condition of your vehicle.

Teamwork & Flexibility:

Although you will have your own planned routes for the day, flexibility is essential. The wider operation also includes HGV drivers, and there may be occasions where you are required to assist the HGV drivers with their deliveries or other duties. We are therefore looking for people who are happy to go the extra mile, support their colleagues and work as part of a wider transport team.

What We're Looking For:

We're particularly interested in candidates who are serious about developing their driving career and want to progress towards HGV driving. You will need:

  • A full UK driving license with the appropriate entitlement to drive a 3.5t vehicle.
  • Previous 3.5t van driving experience is desirable.
  • A reliable and hardworking attitude.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • The ability to safely lift and maneuver large and heavy furniture.
  • A professional approach when dealing with customers.
  • The ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.
  • A flexible attitude and willingness to assist the HGV drivers when required.
  • The commitment to work the 4 on / 4 off shift pattern, including weekends.
