Flexible People Ltd are currently recruiting Drivers Mates to work alongside experienced 7.5t lorry drivers for a well-established client based in Southampton.
The Role
As a Drivers Mate, you will assist with the delivery of large items to residential properties, including:
- Flat-pack furniture
- Gym equipment
- White goods
This is a physically demanding role and requires a good level of fitness, as heavy lifting is involved.
Working Hours & Shifts
The client operates 7 days a week. You will receive a weekly rota of 56 shifts. Weekend work is required and expected. Start time: 06:00. Shift length: approximately 9-11 hours per day.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting the driver with safe delivery of goods
- Calling customers ahead of arrival to provide delivery updates
- Delivering excellent customer service at all times
- Acting as a Banksman when the lorry is reversing (full training provided)
Requirements
- Be physically fit and capable of lifting heavy items
- Be reliable, organised, and punctual
- Have strong communication and customer service skills
- Be able to reliably commute to Southampton
- Own your own steel toe cap safety boots and high-visibility vest
Training & Compliance
Attendance at a mandatory induction day is required before starting. Drug testing may be carried out at any time, including during induction.
Pay
£13.15 per hour. £19.73 per hour overtime, paid for hours worked over 48 hours per week.
