Job Summary
Reporting to the Head of Commercial, this role partners closely with Sales, Operations, and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for new product development and enhancements to existing products. The role is responsible for leading product development and improvement projects from concept through to commercial launch, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and customer needs, while driving project delivery, cross-functional collaboration, and stakeholder engagement.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and develop the Product Development team, ensuring regular performance reviews are conducted and corrective actions implemented where required.
- Establish, embed, and uphold clear standards of performance across all product development activities.
- Provide clear direction, coaching, mentoring, and targeted support to enable the team to meet expected standards.
- Lead the technical qualification and specification development of new product development and existing product improvement opportunities arising from sales enquiries or direct customer requests.
- Work closely with Sales and Operations to develop robust business cases.
- Manage the development and launch of new and existing products by assembling and leading cross-functional project teams.
- Engage regularly with customers, supporting Sales and Marketing activities, to gather feedback on product performance.
- Support the creation of technical notes, blogs, and marketing content that showcase the company’s product development capabilities.
Personal Specifications
- Proven experience in the medical devices sector in a commercial role, or experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience in leading, managing, and developing a team of product development scientists.
- Technical qualification in chemistry, engineering, materials science, or a related discipline.
- Strong track record of delivering product development projects on time and within budget.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexible and adaptable, able to reprioritise tasks in response to changing demands.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and positive in approach.
