LOCATION: Glenrothes
WORKING HOURS: Rotational weekly 12hr dayshift/nightshift pattern.
EDUCATION: HNC/HND (preferred) in Chemistry/Applied Sciences or equivalent experience, in a related discipline.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: Up to 3 years experience (preferred)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide site wide quality support across processes and projects within manufacturing.
- Work with operations to create products that meet customer requirements while supporting the flow of the value stream.
- Evaluate data noting any relevant deviations from existing standards.
- Interpret test results and compare them to the specifications and control limits in place while providing recommendations on the appropriateness of data.
- Complete documentation necessary for the support of testing procedures and issue material non-conformances as needed.
- Determine if product meets specification.
- Issue work order remakes and/or stop shipments to customers as needed.
- Track order status through the system.
- Process remakes, quality alerts, on-holds and rejections.
- Assist driving quality improvement including involvement in quality lean group initiatives.
- Conduct analyses of in-process materials and finished goods checking for quality and that they meet necessary specifications.
- Test product following prescribed methods, recording results, and taking appropriate action based on results.
- Enter non-conformed material to the on-hold database where required.
- Develop and maintain inspection reports.
- Collect product samples from Manufacturing and conduct specified tests to verify conformance.
- Issue certificates of analysis (COA) to customers.
- Assist with analysis of data using statistical methods for customer specification development.
- Provide test data or other required information to Product Certification function in Weesp, The Netherlands, when requested.
- Complete incoming quality inspections (IQC) for raw material delivery.
- Participate in complaint investigation support as part of a team to work with customers where defects are reported.
- Gather, file, and archive retains of materials produced within manufacturing.
- Create, maintain, and utilize statistical process control (SPC) charts to analyze test results.
- Note runs, trends or other out of control situations and notify supervisor.
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing methodology and thinking.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement new methods accordingly.
- Conduct necessary audits at prescribed frequencies: QMS, process and static audits.
- Stay current with issues and share knowledge through participation in cross shift and department dialog including meetings, emails, reports, and other means of communication.
- Plan and arrange own work according to the daily activity schedule.
- Use basic statistics, product, and process knowledge.
- Review ISO control documents.
- Prepare and implement temporary work instructions (TWI).
- Attend Town Hall, Kaizen, DPI, Risk Analysis, FMEA, Safety and other meetings, where appropriate.
- Order laboratory supplies.
- Perform other related duties as required or directed.
