We are looking to hire a new Freight & Logistics Manager employee to be based in Warrington (UK).
Summary
Reporting to Materials Director, this role will lead, motivate, and manage a dedicated (UK-based) freight team responsible for end-to-end logistics operations, ensuring high service levels, and efficient financial reporting for local UK warehouse and global Flex sites.
What a typical day looks like
- Leadership: Lead, motivate, and manage the freight team to achieve individual and site-level objectives.
- Operational Control: Oversee inbound, outbound, cross-border, and reverse logistics movements, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Supplier Management: Monitor and manage external suppliers' performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Service Level Agreements (SLAs): Ensure strict adherence to SLAs for multiple customers.
- Financial Control: Capture, allocate, and report all financial billing associated with freight providers.
- Customer Facing/Support: Serve as the point of contact for enquiries from internal/external sources, business development projects, RFQs, and new business opportunities.
- Customer/Site Support: Support site programme managers in all freight dealings with the present customer base.
- Relationship Management: Maintain strong relationships and work experience with major UK Freight providers.
The experience/qualification we’re looking to add to our team
- Proven experience in freight forwarding, logistics.
- Demonstrated experience in leading or supervising a team.
- Strong ability to lead on customer-facing calls, including reporting and escalation issues.
- Experience of import and export regulations and procedures for EU and Non-EU origins and destinations, covering Incoterms and duties.
- Experience of SOP and SOW creation.
- Knowledge of Customs Tariff code.
- Ability to effectively communicate at all levels both internally and externally to customers and logistics partners.
- To be able to build and maintain working relationships with: Freight partners, Finance, Purchasing, Programme and Customer management & IT.
