We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Commercial Disputes Lawyer to provide interim support during a period of increased dispute activity.
This role will support the legal team on a range of complaints and commercial disputes that have arisen. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders to assess, manage and resolve disputes in a commercial and solutions-focused manner. The role requires a comfortable lawyer operating autonomously while collaborating effectively with the wider business.
Core responsibilities include:
- Managing a range of commercial disputes and complaints arising from operational and regulatory changes.
- Advising internal stakeholders on risk, strategy and dispute resolution approaches.
- Supporting the business in responding to customer, supplier and stakeholder disputes.
- Reviewing contractual positions and advising on commercial and legal exposure.
- Assisting with the management of external counsel where required.
- Providing pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice aligned with business objectives.
- Supporting the wider legal team on ad hoc contentious matters as needed.
- Supporting Angie and the wider connections team with triaging and responding to complaints/disputes that are being raised by customers in relation to where they have been placed in the newly formed Connections queue/connection offer dates, and liaising with external counsel (AG) where appropriate.
- Ad hoc general Connections contracts-related queries/support.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Strong experience in commercial disputes and contentious matters.
- Prior in-house experience preferred.
- Able to manage matters independently and operate in a fast-paced environment.
- Commercially minded, pragmatic and solutions-focused.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience within the energy or infrastructure sector would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Key Details:
- Contract length: 6–9 months
- Start date: ASAP / within the next 2 weeks preferred
- Working pattern: Open to 4 or 5 days per week
- Location: Hybrid working
- Office attendance: 1 day per week in Warwick (ideally Tuesday, as this is their anchor day, but can be flexible for the right candidate)
- Remaining working pattern: Remote / Work from home
