Location- We are predominantly based in the North West of England, with offices in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Bolton & Southport, as well as a team in Cambridge. In this key role, you’ll partner with stakeholders across the business to identify skills needs and implement innovative L&D solutions that enhance individual capability and support overall business productivity. Main Responsibilities :

  • Work closely with Director of Legal Training to maintain relations and develop training with the legal teams, including the Costs Team and Court of Protection.
  • Support and deliver parts of Fletchers Academy and other legal training programmes, including assisting with the creation and delivery of a Costs Academy
  • Ideally have a legal/ costs background and be able to draw on experience to train others.
  • Work proactively to identify and provide learning and development solutions through consultation with others across the company, mainly in the legal teams.
  • Write, deliver and facilitate internal learning materials using an appropriate approach, including e-learning, video, mentoring and coaching.
  • In collaboration with the team oversee our Apprenticeship programme, including developing and maintaining good relationships with our apprentices, managing the Apprenticeship Levy and maintaining relationships with training providers.
  • Assist with the administration and delivery of the Fletchers’ Rising Stars and Associates development programmes.
  • Shared responsibility for the Fletchers induction process, including training new team members and supporting their ongoing development.
  • Shared responsibility for the development, promotion and use of our Learning Management System (currently Acteon)
  • Communicating opportunities internally and answering queries from team members.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with relevant external parties (for example, learning providers, barristers’ Chambers, LMS provider etc).
  • Support internal processes for professional qualifications and assist the Head of Department with the legal qualifications in particular.
  • Assist with the management of relationships with the non-legal departments.
  • Ensure that statutory training requirements are met.
  • Provide data and reports to monitor the delivery of programmes, evaluate the quality of learning opportunities, assess the impact of the interventions on productivity and to ensure that the team’s KPIs are being met.
  • Plan expenditure, monitor the L&D budget (and use of the Apprenticeship Levy) and ensure its use is maximised throughout the year.
  • Keep up to date with practice developments in relevant areas.
  • Active training in person and online in relation to legal topics, areas & the law, as directed by the Head of Department.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • A passion to help people learn, develop and grow as professionals is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, along with stakeholder management experience.
  • Experience of writing, delivering and facilitating learning and development interventions and designing e-learning.
  • Experience of managing budgets.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.
  • Ability to engage and manage key stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office and general technology skills.
  • Ability to maintain discretion in confidential matters.

    Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience of working in the legal sector would be helpful – the role will require the successful applicant to deliver training on a range of legal topics.
  • Understanding of or a background in costs would be helpful. This could be either through qualification or experience working in a cost department.
  • A qualification in L&D, training, teaching or Law is preferred but not essential.
  • Existing knowledge of Apprenticeship programmes and the Apprenticeship Levy would be ideal.
