Join the exceptional Clinical Negligence team at Fletchers, where you will work alongside some of the most skilled and accredited professionals in the field, including members of APIL, AvMA, and the Law Society Clinical Negligence Panel. The role involves assisting lawyers and senior lawyers in managing a caseload of high-value Clinical Negligence cases from inception to trial, always under supervision and in line with current company policies and legal requirements. You will accept delegated tasks on similar cases, assist in settling cases, and mentor junior team members. Successful candidates will join a large, busy team specializing in high-value birth injury claims, working on all aspects of litigation, both pre- and post-litigation. Main Responsibilities:

  • Managing an individual caseload of birth injury cases
  • Supporting the team to deliver excellent client service
  • Proactively managing case progression and commercial aspects
  • Supporting the Team Leader/Head of Department in achieving financial and performance KPIs
  • Accurate and thorough time recording

Responsible for:

  • Discussing case tactics and planning with senior team members
  • Driving cases towards LOC, settlement, and service
  • Gathering and organizing relevant case information
  • Managing caseloads proactively and commercially
  • Coordinating case progression with internal and external parties
  • Drafting legal documents such as LOC and letters of instruction
  • Negotiating settlements and issuing proceedings if necessary
  • Handling litigation as required
  • Overseeing team documentation and correspondence
  • Advising the team on technical issues with support from senior staff

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Recent experience managing a caseload 0-5 years PQE or equivalent experience in Clinical Negligence
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication and drafting skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Proclaim, and Excel
  • Attention to detail
  • Commercial awareness within a legal context
  • Ability to mentor junior team members
  • Flexibility and commitment to deadlines
  • Excellent client care skills
