As a Senior Solicitor in our Clinical Negligence team, you will play a pivotal role in managing and progressing cases with a high level of autonomy and expertise. Your responsibilities will include handling allocated cases from inception to resolution, ensuring that each is conducted with a proactive and commercially focused approach. You will correspond regularly with clients, medical experts, and other stakeholders to provide clear, informed guidance and maintain strong, supportive relationships. Your experience and leadership will be instrumental in delivering successful outcomes, driving the team’s success, and upholding our commitment to excellence in clinical negligence law.

You would be joining a quality, experienced, and growing team of Clinical Negligence lawyers, several of whom hold accreditations such as from APIL, AvMA, and the Law Society Clinical Negligence Panel.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for supporting the team to deliver outstanding service to clients
  • Proactive case management and progression
  • Supporting the Team Leader in achieving financial KPIs
  • Effective time recording

Responsible for:

  • Discussing and planning case tactics with the Team Leader and team members
  • Identifying cases ready for LOC, settlement, and service
  • Ensuring relevant case information is collected and collated
  • Managing caseloads proactively and commercially
  • Coordinating case progression with internal and external parties
  • Drafting legal documents such as LOC and letters of instruction
  • Negotiating settlements and issuing proceedings if required
  • Overseeing team-produced documentation and correspondence
  • Advising the team on technical issues arising

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Recent experience managing a caseload
  • 8+ years PQE or equivalent in Clinical Negligence
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and drafting skills
  • Strong IT skills, especially in Microsoft Office, Proclaim, and Excel
  • Attention to detail and commercial awareness
  • Leadership skills for coaching junior team members
  • Flexibility and commitment to achieving results and deadlines
  • Excellent client care skills
