We’re seeking a Birth Injury Paralegal to join our busy and highly specialist team within the Clinical Negligence department. This role involves working on complex, high‑value birth injury cases, supporting senior lawyers and contributing to life‑changing outcomes for families affected by medical negligence during pregnancy, labour and neonatal care. You’ll assist with detailed investigations, medical record analysis, witness evidence, and liaising with experts and clients, playing a key role in cases that require sensitivity, precision and robust legal and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the delivery of all KPI targets set by the firm.
  • Progress cases in a timely, efficient and proactive manner.
  • Liaise with clients, experts, barristers, third‑party solicitors and insurers as directed.
  • Deal with all aspects of pre‑ and post‑issue procedures under supervision in a timely and cost‑effective manner.
  • Ensure all actions as per Proclaim Action List are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Record accurate time.
  • Maintain client files in good order in accordance with Lexcel and other quality assurance requirements.
  • Report to Senior Lawyer as required.
  • Assist in the collection and collation of medical records.
  • Prepare client documents such as witness statements.
  • Manage a caseload of Clinical Negligence cases in the early stages and assist team members with tasks.

Essential Skills And Experience

  • Desire to work in this area of law and preferably some experience.
  • Graduate, preferably with a Law‑related degree and/or a professional qualification such as LPC, route to BAR or CILEX.
  • Ability to take direction and supervision from a team leader.
  • Proven legal and forensic skills.
  • Good research skills.
