Fletcher George are arranging interviews for an experienced Accountant to join a well-established, privately owned firm in the Woking area of Surrey. Working within a collaborative team, you will take ownership of a varied portfolio, providing statutory accounts preparation, bookkeeping and management accounting services to owner-managed businesses across a range of sectors. The Accountant Role

  • Manage a portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts for selected clients, providing timely and accurate financial information.
  • Prepare statutory accounts for a portfolio of clients, ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards and filing requirements.
  • Manage bookkeeping for a varied client portfolio using CCH.
  • Review bookkeeping and VAT returns, providing high-quality support and advice to clients.
  • Support clients using Xero and other cloud accounting software.
  • Onboard new clients, ensuring a smooth transition to cloud-based accounting systems.
  • Build strong client relationships, acting as a trusted point of contact.
  • Assist with ad hoc accounts and bookkeeping projects as required.

About You

  • Previous experience working within a UK Accountancy Practice.
  • Strong bookkeeping experience together with the preparation of management accounts.
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts for owner-managed businesses under FRS 102 and FRS 105.
  • Good working knowledge of VAT and bookkeeping principles.
  • Experience using CCH and cloud accounting software.
  • Excellent organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A proactive, client-focused approach with strong communication skills and the confidence to manage your own portfolio.
