The Opportunity
As Audit Director and Responsible Individual (RI), you’ll play a key strategic role in shaping the firm’s audit offering. Reporting directly to the National Head of Audit and working alongside the shareholder team, you’ll lead high-quality audit engagements, mentor a growing team, and take the lead on exciting new business opportunities. This is a hands-on, high-impact role with real influence and visibility within the firm. Key Responsibilities
- Act as the lead RI on audits, ensuring full compliance with UK auditing standards and ethical regulations
- Oversee planning, execution, and completion of audit engagements, primarily across the firm’s North region
- Build and maintain strong client relationships as a trusted advisor
- Review and approve audit files and documentation, providing feedback and upskilling to team members
- Mentor and develop audit seniors and trainees, offering coaching, training, and career development
- Support workflow management and team leadership, including resourcing and quality control
- Drive audit quality and continuous improvement across methodology and processes
- Contribute to wider firm strategy through business development, tender presentations, and cross-functional collaboration
- Identify opportunities to introduce clients to other service lines (e.g., Tax, Wealth, Corporate Finance)
- Promote the firm’s brand and values through networking, speaking opportunities, and thought leadership
About You
- ACA or ACCA qualified with significant post-qualification experience in practice
- Registered Responsible Individual (RI) with the FRC
- Strong track record at Director or Senior Manager level within a UK audit firm
- Deep technical knowledge of UK GAAP, FRS 102, and ideally IFRS/SORP
- Commercially savvy with proven business development and client relationship skills
- Passionate about developing people and fostering an inclusive, supportive team culture
