An award-winning, privately owned SME in the online retail and product space is entering an exciting phase of international and UK growth. To support this next chapter, the Directors are looking to appoint a dynamic and energetic Head of Finance to help implement improved systems, drive commercial strategy, and lead robust financial processes.
This hands-on leadership role is based full-time in the Kingston upon Thames office, suiting a CIMA-qualified professional with strong management reporting skills, stock control systems expertise, and solid experience in online retail and/or manufacturing.
The role:
- Finance Leadership and Commercial Strategy
- Work closely with the Managing Director on commercial and financial decision-making.
- Lead the implementation of a new accounting system and contribute to wider systems/process upgrades.
- Support the long-term strategy with insightful financial modelling, forecasting, and commercial analysis.
- Financial Control & Reporting
- Deliver accurate and timely monthly management accounts and reports.
- Implement/enhance accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Manage stock control systems and improve stock tracking and reordering processes.
- Ensure the business is audit-ready and oversee the preparation of statutory accounts.
- Operational Oversight & Business Growth
- Support operational efficiency by providing key financial data and performance insights.
- Lead projects across finance and operations to enhance profitability.
- People & Stakeholder Engagement
- Mentor junior team members as the finance function scales.
- Build strong relationships with banks, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
About You:
- CIMA qualified (or equivalent) with experience in a similar commercial finance leadership role.
- Experience in retail (especially online) or manufacturing is essential.
- Strong system implementation and process improvement background.
- Skilled in stock control, management reporting, and financial oversight.
- A natural problem solver, highly energetic, dynamic, and hands-on.
- Enjoy working in an agile, entrepreneurial SME environment.
