Role Overview: This role supports high-profile, global pharmaceutical and health technology companies across oncology, neuroscience and Type 1 diabetes. You’ll play a key role in delivering excellent client service, shaping strategic communications recommendations, leading projects, and supporting teams to deliver high-quality programmes. Scopes vary but will include earned media strategy and activation, social-first storytelling, influencer strategy and engagement, internal communications, issues management and content creation across a variety of channels in service of a range of external and internal audiences.
The day to day:
- Client Counsel: Be a trusted client advisor; providing strategic guidance, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of their business, and developing innovative strategies for implementing successful client programmes. Anticipate clients’ needs and gather information proactively and in a timely manner to share with account team/clients. Provide counsel and manage activity across a range of healthcare communications needs, including corporate thought leadership, brand/consumer storytelling, disease awareness, health technology, data milestones, congress activity and senior executive visibility. Work as part of the wider media specialist community, helping teams identify strong stories, sharpen media angles, develop journalist strategies and bring external media insight into client programmes. Support story mining across accounts, helping client teams identify credible media opportunities from complex scientific, corporate, technological or patient-focused material.
- Growth & Operational Excellence: Actively identify and convert organic growth opportunities and support new business pitch opportunities with a growth mindset. Proactively implement new ways to meet client needs through a deep understanding of FH’s capabilities, including sector and specialty offerings and complementary businesses within the OMC network. Represent FH at meetings with clients, stakeholders and colleagues and provide consultancy in trending healthcare categories. Identify and participate in external thought leadership opportunities to build awareness of the agency’s expertise. Contribute to the management of client budgets, overseeing budget development, tracking, billing and communications. Stay abreast of regulatory environment and ensure compliance in all deliverables (e.g., EFPIA, ABPI, FDA, etc.).
- Talent Development: Champion and mentor junior team members, providing clear guidance, feedback, and support. Contribute to a positive team culture that embraces diversity, equitable and inclusive, where every team member feels a sense of belonging. Role model team values around respect, curiosity and courage, while embracing challenge, staying hungry to learn and creating opportunity.
About You: Previous experience supporting health/pharma clients, ideally within an agency environment. Strong understanding of pharmaceutical/biotech industry, regulatory environment, and key audiences. Earned media expertise, whether in press material development, journalist liaison and/or advising clients on the most effective earned media approach for their news moment, whether that’s a clinical data readout, regulatory milestone or other corporate announcement. Ability to create content to a high standard across a range of communications materials including for example press releases, social posts, internal communications, presentation slides for internal stakeholder use. Experience or interest in digital innovation, including social media strategy and content, influencer partnerships and closed HCP platform programmes. Ability to think innovatively around the use of AI in communications strategies. Strong attention to detail and excellent project management skills. Comfortable managing multiple workstreams and competing priorities. Right to work in the UK and able to work in our Bankside office at least 3 days per week.
