Reporting to: Academy Manager, Academy Head of Medical
Main Purpose of the Role: To assist and support the Physiotherapy team in the planning, delivery and management of high-quality medical provision for all Academy players.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work alongside the Academy Physiotherapist to plan, deliver and support the medical provision for all Academy age groups.
- Support the Medical Department in line with Club policy and EPPP guidelines.
- Oversee the daily treatment and rehabilitation of Academy players (U9–U21).
- Undertake regular CPD and training relevant to the role, contributing to the ongoing development of the Medical Department.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in line with CSP and HCPC standards.
- Manage and update the PMA for injuries and performance markers during rehabilitation.
- Contribute to ongoing player education.
- Provide pitch-side emergency first aid cover for training sessions and matches.
- Deliver a holistic approach to injury management, including appropriate referral to sport psychology.
- Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support the development and wellbeing of young players.
- Assist Academy Physiotherapists and the First Team Physiotherapist with U21s and First Team squads when required.
- Provide support to the First Team Physiotherapist for training and matchdays as needed.
- Support the delivery of medical provision for Academy external partners where possible.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy.
- Full and current registration/membership with CSP and HCPC.
- Current ATMIFF qualification, or working towards.
- Experience working as a Sports Therapist within an elite sporting environment.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
- MSc, or working towards.
- Experience working within an Academy under EPPP regulations.
- Understanding of age-appropriate medical provision.
- Knowledge of elite-level medical and performance requirements.
- Strong IT skills, including experience using the PMA.
