This is a growing, purpose driven not-for-profit organisation with an ambitious strategy and a clear mandate to evolve and scale ethically. Remote permanent role with very occasional travel as required.
Your Mission
Sitting within the Second Line of Defence, your role is to design, embed, and own the organisation’s approach to change risk. You will support a business delivering an ambitious strategy by ensuring that risks arising from strategic and operational change are identified early, understood properly, and managed pragmatically. This role exists because the organisation is growing and evolving. A new change capability is forming, major programmes are underway, and senior leaders want risk insight that adds value rather than friction. This is not about slowing things down. It is about helping change land well.
Are You the Right Fit?
This is not a role for someone who wants everything fully defined before they begin. It is for someone who is comfortable working in ambiguity and confident enough to help shape what good looks like. Do you have hands on experience managing risk across complex change initiatives? Are you comfortable working closely with senior stakeholders and putting your views forward when it matters? Can you prioritise effectively in a fast paced environment where not everything can be tackled at once? Do you enjoy building frameworks, relationships, and credibility from the ground up? If those questions feel uncomfortably familiar, this role is likely worth a closer look.
Why this role matters
The organisation is entering a significant phase of transformation, delivering multiple strategic and business change programmes in parallel. A new Head of Change has recently been appointed and will join in April, with the wider change function beginning to take shape in the new year. This means you won’t be inheriting a finished model. You’ll help build it. We’re looking for a Change Risk Manager with credible experience managing risk across complex change. Someone who is comfortable operating in ambiguity, confident in voicing their views, and able to bring order without bureaucracy.
What you’ll be doing
- Developing and embedding a change risk management framework that supports fast-moving programmes
- Designing a practical risk assessment approach to prioritise focus and resource
- Creating a flexible assurance plan that can keep pace with evolving change initiatives
- Acting as the lead risk partner to the first line on strategic and operational change
- Working closely with the newly forming change function to integrate risk from day one
- Supporting innovation activity by identifying emerging risks early
- Coaching stakeholders to understand the dynamic nature of change risk and mitigation
- Providing clear, credible insight to senior management, ExCo, and Board forums
- Deputising for the Head of Regulatory and Compliance Risk when required
Who this role is for
This role will suit someone who:
- Has solid, hands-on experience in change risk management
- 15+ years of experience in banking or large corporate business with a large country-wide branch network: i.e., telco, post office, financial services etc.
- Has a personal interest in working for a not-for-profit organisation.
- Enjoys working in fast-paced, evolving environments where not everything is defined
- Is comfortable putting their point of view across and constructively challenging senior stakeholders
- Can prioritise effectively when everything feels important
- Brings pragmatism and commercial awareness, not just frameworks
- Builds trust quickly across functions and levels of seniority
- Has exposure to technology, data, or information security risk (useful, not essential)
The culture
The organisation believes:
- The work matters — people rely on it every day
- Learning matters more than perfection
- Ambiguity creates opportunity
- Listening comes before judgement
- Growth is a shared responsibility
- The culture you create now shapes what comes next
Why this is worth a conversation
- Remote-first working with autonomy and trust
- A broad, influential role with genuine visibility
- The chance to help shape a change and risk capability from the ground up
- A growing organisation doing work that truly matters
This isn’t a role for someone who wants certainty handed to them..... It’s for someone who knows how to create it...... If that sounds like you, let’s talk. We are expecting a high level of interest in this role and whilst we may not be able to respond to every applicant, we will review all applications.
