Our client is a highly regarded and hugely respected vehicle contract hire and fleet management provider based in South Yorkshire. They are a privately owned business who are passionately driven by the principles, ethics, and values instilled by their founder, who started the company in 1931. They have an enviable reputation in the marketplace, and their customer and staff retention is outstanding.
Due to retirement, this is a rare opportunity for a talented Service Advisor to join the company as a Service Controller.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Service Controller, you will be part of a fantastic team who ensure cost effective and safe methods of repairs are undertaken to our client’s contract hire fleet. You will police costs and authorise maintenance expenditure, and your responsibilities would include:
- To authorise any mechanical work to vehicles that has been requested by dealerships and workshops in the supply chain
- To provide technical advice (signposting) and assistance to our client’s customers and suppliers
- To ensure service, maintenance and repair costs are both required and competitive
- Provide advice to customers, suppliers and colleagues when required
- Authorise necessary mechanical repairs in order to maintain and keep safe all our client’s vehicles as per the manufacturers’ recommendations
- Manage all aspects of cost control for each request by policing the requirement for the work, the number of hours quoted, and the costs (ensuring dealers are not over-charging)
- Manage all aspects of vehicle downtime, and manage the client’s expectations
- Investigate and gather evidence relating to customer recharges and warranty rejections
This role is perfect for an experienced Service Advisor, with excellent experience in a car dealership, who takes great delight in making sure that only essential, and necessary mechanical work is undertaken. In short, somebody who loves the idea of becoming a poacher turned game-keeper, working from a brilliant office environment and keeping retail dealerships costs in check.
To be considered you will need:
- Great experience working in the front line of a motor dealership service department
- Excellent communication skills when face to face, over the telephone, in e-mail, and in any report writing
- Excellent problem solving abilities
- Fantastic time management skills and the ability to manage multiple cases
- Excellent IT skills with a particular focus on Microsoft Excel and Word
