This role is primarily based at Global Vans in Bristol but with some travel across our other business areas in the UK.
The Role
As People & Culture Business Partner for the UK business, you will play a key role in shaping how we attract, manage, develop, and support our people in a high-performance automotive and sales-driven environment. This role focuses on building strong People & Culture foundations, creating modern, fit-for-purpose processes and policies while supporting the business through a group-wide standardisation programme. You will work closely with leaders to balance commercial agility with consistency, compliance, and a positive employee experience.
What I will be doing
- Partnering with senior leaders and managers across sales and operational teams to deliver practical, commercially focused People & Culture solutions.
- Designing, implementing, and embedding core UK People & Culture processes and policies, including performance management, absence, disciplinary and grievance, onboarding, reward, wellbeing, and employee engagement.
- Leading the UK rollout of group People & Culture standards, frameworks, and ways of working, ensuring they are practical and effective in a fast-paced automotive sales environment.
- Acting as a trusted change partner during periods of transformation, supporting leaders through standardisation, integration, and continuous improvement.
- Providing expert guidance on employee relations matters, handling complex cases with confidence, consistency, and strong UK employment law knowledge.
- Supporting the implementation and optimisation of People & Culture systems (HRIS), ensuring they enable efficient processes, accurate data, and a positive user experience for managers and employees.
- Driving wellbeing initiatives that support sustainable performance, resilience, and a positive workplace culture.
- Championing equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) initiatives, ensuring fair, inclusive, and consistent people practices.
- Supporting people development through performance, talent, and succession processes, helping managers identify and grow future capability.
- Coaching and developing line managers to build strong people leadership capability, confidence, and accountability.
- Collaborating with People & Culture colleagues across the wider group to share best practice and drive alignment.
- Supporting organisational change activity, including restructures, consultations, and TUPE processes where required as the UK business.
What Will I Need To Succeed
- Proven experience as a People & Culture Business Partner, HR Business Partner, or in a senior people role within a commercial, operational, or sales-led environment (automotive experience is desirable).
- Strong experience building or modernising People & Culture processes and policies, particularly in growing or changing organisations.
- Solid, up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law and confidence managing complex employee relations cases.
- Experience supporting standardisation, harmonisation, or group-wide people initiatives across multiple sites or entities.
- Experience delivering or supporting wellbeing, EDI, and people development initiatives within a commercial setting.
- Experience supporting or leading People & Culture system (HRIS) implementation or optimisation is highly beneficial.
- Commercial mindset with the ability to balance people priorities with sales performance and operational demands.
- Confident, credible communicator able to influence and challenge leaders at all levels.
- Pragmatic, hands-on approach with the ability to move easily between strategy and delivery.
- CIPD Level 5 or 7 (or equivalent experience) preferred.
