Flatspot is a founder‑led, multi‑brand e‑commerce business based in South Devon. We’re looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to support our day‑to‑day finance operations as the business continues to grow.
This is a hands‑on, transactional role suited to someone who enjoys working accurately within clear processes, liaising confidently with suppliers and internal teams, and taking pride in keeping financial records up to date.
Key responsibilities
- Process supplier invoices and credits in Sage 50
- Match invoices against internal purchase orders and maintain PO records
- Liaise with suppliers to obtain missing invoices, credits, statements and supporting documentation
- Prepare weekly payment lists for approval (UK and international)
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve routine discrepancies
- Process company credit card receipts and reconcile to statements
- Record daily income streams (e.g., Shopify, Klarna, PayPal)
- Prepare end‑of‑month takings reports and support reconciliations
- Support month‑end processes and reporting
- Liaise with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate financial information
- Escalate unresolved queries or issues internally where appropriate
About you
- Experience in a transactional finance or accounts support role
- Strong working knowledge of Sage 50
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Confident liaising with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Comfortable working to deadlines within established processes
- Competent with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets)
- Desirable: AAT qualification (or equivalent), or working toward it
- Experience in e‑commerce, retail, or stock‑based businesses is a plus
Role context
This role focuses on processing, reconciliation and coordination within established controls. It does not include responsibility for bank access, payment authorisation, VAT submissions, or financial decision‑making, which are retained elsewhere in the business.
