FlatPlan is the leading Apple News technology and strategy provider, working with 230+ consumer publishers including The Atlantic, The Athletic, Good Housekeeping, Time and Formula 1. We're a preferred provider to Apple, helping the world's biggest publishers reach hundreds of millions of readers through Apple News and beyond. We're profitable, growing, and scaling sanely - a sharp team doing meaningful work at pace.

We are expanding the business to offer content production to our publishers, to help our customers reach and retain more readers. You will build and rebuild publisher articles inside FlatPlan+, our Apple News+ CMS, and with internal tooling. Many of these articles will be richly designed rebuilds with custom layouts, box-outs, animation and typography. You will produce to a daily rhythm across several large publishers and own the quality of everything that goes out. This is a hands-on production and design role: the craft is in the build, and you will use tooling, including Claude Code, every day to produce compelling content at scale.

What you will do:

  • You will produce and rebuild articles to a daily schedule across multiple publishers, designing richer interactive builds for the higher-value pieces.
  • You will use FlatPlan-specific tooling to speed up production and to build reusable outputs, while holding a consistent and high quality bar on every published piece.
  • You will manage sign-off with a named contact at each publisher and keep approvals moving, and you will track output and flag what is performing.

What we need:

  • You will have proven digital production or production-design experience working to daily deadlines, with a strong design and layout eye that can turn a plain article into a polished, upgraded one.
  • We are looking for someone with a demonstrable care for quality, confidence learning a proprietary CMS fast, and a clear communicator who is comfortable dealing directly with a client contact.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with understanding content trends/audiences;
  • Apple News+ and Apple News Format experience;
  • Interactive or rich-media production; and
  • Comfort with light technical tooling such as Claude Code.

What we will teach you:

We will train you on the platform, Apple News Format and Apple News+ mechanics. Taste, production quality and technical fluency are what we are hiring for.

Who we are:

FlatPlan is a small, passionate team with backgrounds at Apple, Stripe, New York Times Company and top-tier startups. We're fully remote but intentional about connection - social 1:1s, Friday socials, a virtual office and optional UK meet-ups twice a year. We share knowledge openly and regularly, share wins in a weekly session and work collaboratively on obstacles. There are no layers of bureaucracy - we're a tight team that genuinely looks out for each other. We want this team to reflect the breadth of the publishers and audiences we serve. We strongly encourage applicants from underrepresented backgrounds to apply. All qualified candidates will be considered regardless of race, gender, identity, orientation, disability or background.
