We’re looking for an Associate Statistical Programmer who is well-versed in R to help us accomplish our mission to improve and extend lives by learning from the experience of every person with cancer.
What You'll Do
- Work as a member of the Research Sciences (RS) department, primarily supporting the Custom Solutions and Services (CSS) team within the Client Solutions organization.
- Accurately translate analytic specifications from a statistical analysis plan into R code to create analytic datasets, generate descriptive and inferential statistics, and visualizations, etc., in consultation with the more senior programmers and/or study principal investigator.
- Build subject matter expertise and discuss capabilities of a variety of different Flatiron data modalities, including EHR-derived real-world data, clinico-genomics data, and claims data.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders across our medical and scientific organization to execute and deliver on client-sponsored research studies in an accurate, effective, and timely manner.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of Flatiron’s proprietary analytical tooling and templates.
- Continue to develop a deeper understanding of real-world data and related methodologies used to generate real-world evidence.
Who You Are
- A kind, passionate and collaborative problem-solver.
- An analytical thinker and excellent communicator with experience or interest in analyzing real-world data (e.g., healthcare claims or electronic health records).
- Excited by the prospect of rolling up your sleeves to tackle meaningful problems each and every day.
- Holds a Doctorate degree (e.g., PhD, ScD, DrPH) in Biostatistics/Statistics with no industry experience, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Biological Sciences, Public Health, Math, or a closely related field, or a Master’s degree and 2 - 3 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in one of these fields with 4 - 5 years of relevant experience.
- An excellent programmer in R (including tidyverse) and comfortable working in Git-based environments (e.g., Github, Gitlab).
- Experience with large healthcare-related datasets (e.g., administrative claims, electronic medical records).
- Strong organizational, time-management, prioritization and decision-making skills necessary to evaluate, plan and implement multiple high-visibility projects in a timely fashion.
- Able to work effectively in a constantly changing, diverse, and matrix environment.
- Able to quickly learn and apply new information, skills and procedures.
- Passionate about our mission to improve healthcare through technology.
