Business Development & Service Delivery Manager – Occupational Therapy Services
London, Home Counties and beyond
Salary £55,000 plus generous performance-based bonus, negotiable based on experience
Full-time, permanent
Full product training, ongoing support, company vehicle provided if required
About the role
Our client is seeking an experienced, highly organised professional to develop its Occupational Therapy assessment service across local authorities and other public-sector organisations.
Broader than a traditional BDM role, you will build new and existing relationships, engage commissioners and decision-makers, and manage opportunities from first contact through to completion. This includes ensuring referrals, assessments, reports, recommendations and paperwork are completed accurately and on time.
It is a long-term career opportunity for someone who understands local-authority services, enjoys building sustainable partnerships and wants to help shape the future of the business.
Key responsibilities
Research relevant local authorities and other organisations, identifying and engaging commissioners, procurement teams, service managers and key decision-makers.
Communicate the service, capacity and value proposition, generating opportunities through direct outreach, networking, tender portals, frameworks and professional contacts, and attending meetings, presentations and service discussions.
Prepare proposals, quotations, tender submissions and supporting commercial information.
Build trusted local-authority relationships, onboard new authorities and agree referral processes, service expectations, reporting requirements and timescales.
Act as the principal client contact, responding promptly to queries, resolving operational issues and escalating clinical matters to the appropriate clinical lead.
Coordinate Occupational Therapists and internal colleagues, monitoring assessment progress, capacity and turnaround times while ensuring reports and paperwork are complete, accurate and submitted on time, with clear records maintained.
Monitor performance against agreed standards, update management and clients, identify opportunities to improve or extend existing services, and develop robust systems and processes as the service grows.
About you
You will be commercially confident, professional and capable of building relationships with senior stakeholders. You will also be highly organised and comfortable managing the administrative and operational detail required to deliver an excellent service.
You should be able to demonstrate:
Experience in business development, account management, commissioning or service delivery.
Experience working with local authorities, the NHS, social care organisations, charities or other public-sector bodies.
Confidence working with C-suite executives, commissioners, procurement teams and other senior decision-makers.
An understanding of local-authority decision-making, commissioning, procurement or tendering processes.
A successful record of developing client relationships and converting opportunities into contracts or service agreements.
Strong relationship-management and communication skills, with excellent written English and attention to detail.
Confidence preparing presentations, proposals, reports and tender documentation.
The ability to manage multiple referrals, deadlines and stakeholder requirements, supported by strong administrative, record-keeping and organisational skills.
A proactive approach to resolving problems and maintaining service standards.
The ability to work independently while collaborating closely with clinical and operational colleagues.
A clinical qualification is not essential for the commercial and operational elements of the position. However, clinical decisions and the professional review of Occupational Therapy recommendations will remain the responsibility of an appropriately qualified and registered clinician.
Experience in Occupational Therapy, housing adaptations, social care, community equipment, Disabled Facilities Grants or a related field would be highly advantageous.
What they offer
The opportunity to play a central role in developing a growing Occupational Therapy service.
A varied position combining commercial development with meaningful service delivery.
The chance to build long-term relationships with local authorities and public-sector organisations.
Support from experienced Occupational Therapy and operational colleagues.
Commission based on business generated.
Holiday and company pension.
Vehicle provided if required.
Company phone.
