About Flare
Flare is a fast-growing commercial electrical contractor based in Sevenoaks, operating two specialist divisions: Solar PV installation and LED/Electrical works. With a growing team of directly employed engineers, we deliver projects across commercial, industrial, and public sector clients — We don't subcontract; we build capability in-house and we're growing fast.
The Role
We're looking for an experienced Electrical / Solar Estimator to take ownership of tendering across both divisions. You'll be working across a varied pipeline — from LED upgrade programmes and public sector framework tenders to commercial solar PV installations — so breadth of knowledge matters as much as depth. This isn't a back-office function. You'll work closely with the MD, Business Development, and Project Management teams from first enquiry through to bid submission.
What you'll be doing:
- Pricing tenders across commercial electrical, LED lighting upgrades, and solar PV projects from drawings, specs, and site surveys
- Preparing detailed labour, materials, and overhead cost breakdowns
- Supporting Solar PV designs (full training and technical support available for the right candidate)
- Liaising with suppliers to obtain competitive material pricing and maintaining up-to-date supplier records
- Producing bid proposals and supporting documents for framework and direct tenders
- Building and maintaining a cost database to improve speed and accuracy over time
- Identifying value engineering opportunities without compromising on quality or compliance
- Contributing to improving our estimating process as we scale
What we're looking for:
- Proven estimating experience in electrical contracting — commercial projects essential
- Solar PV or renewable energy experience is a strong advantage
- Solid understanding of electrical installation practices, materials, and labour rates
- Comfortable working with tender portals, estimating software, and Microsoft Office
- Organised, accurate, and able to manage multiple live tenders simultaneously
- Someone who communicates clearly and can hold their own with clients, suppliers, and internal teams
- Thrives in a growing business where processes are still being built, not just followed
What we offer:
- £35,000–£45,000 depending on experience
- Free on-site parking
- A key role in a business with genuine growth trajectory and an interesting project mix
- Direct access to senior leadership — no layers of corporate bureaucracy
