Flare Electrical & Solar Contractors Ltd is a specialist renewable energy contractor delivering commercial Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and LED lighting projects across the UK.

We work with developers, main contractors, EPC contractors, local authorities, commercial property owners, education providers, healthcare organisations and industrial businesses, delivering projects ranging from commercial rooftop installations through to utility-scale solar farms.

Recent projects include the successful delivery of a17MW solar farm electrical package, with a further150MW+ of utility-scale projects secured or in delivery, alongside numerous commercial Solar PV, BESS and LED lighting installations for schools, leisure centres, care facilities, commercial developments and storage facilities.

Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Business Development Manager to take over an established role, maintaining existing client relationships while identifying new opportunities and helping drive the next phase of the company's growth.

The Role

This role combines account management with proactive business development.

You will inherit existing client relationships, live opportunities and an established CRM pipeline while developing new business across the commercial renewable energy sector.

Working closely with the Director, Operations Director, Estimating team and Project Managers, you will identify opportunities, build long-term client relationships and manage projects from initial enquiry through to project handover.

Your objective will be to secure profitable Solar PV, Battery Storage (BESS) and LED lighting projects while developing your own portfolio of repeat clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across the commercial, industrial and public sectors.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Main Contractors, Developers, EPC Contractors, Asset Owners, Architects, M&E Contractors, Consultants, Energy Managers, Facilities Managers, Estates Managers, School Business Managers, Property Managers and Commercial & Industrial businesses.
  • Generate opportunities through Linked In, Barbour ABI, planning portals, networking, referrals, framework providers, strategic partnerships and targeted business development activities.
  • Monitor planning approvals, construction activity and market intelligence to identify future project opportunities.
  • Attend client meetings, networking events and industry exhibitions (including events such as Solar & Storage Live) to develop relationships and promote the Flare brand.
  • Meet prospective clients to understand their requirements and recommend appropriate renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions.
  • Work closely with the Estimating team by sharing tender documentation and assisting with the preparation of quotations and tender submissions for Solar PV, BESS and LED lighting projects.
  • Manage the sales process from initial enquiry through to contract award and project handover.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records using Go High Level, including pipeline management, forecasting and sales reporting.
  • Develop long-term relationships with existing clients to encourage repeat business and framework opportunities.
  • Identify strategic partnerships and framework opportunities that support the company's long-term growth.
  • Provide regular sales, pipeline and business development updates to the Directors and Operations Director.

About You

We're looking for someone with a proven track record in business development and consultative B2B sales who enjoys building long-term client relationships and identifying commercial opportunities.

Experience within the renewable energy, Solar PV, Battery Storage, electrical, M&E, construction, property or facilities management sectors would be advantageous; however, candidates from other technical B2B industries with a successful sales background will also be considered.

You should have

  • Proven experience in business development, commercial sales and account management.
  • Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Confidence engaging with senior decision makers including Commercial Directors, Procurement Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers and Business Owners.
  • Experience managing longer sales cycles and complex commercial opportunities.
  • Knowledge of Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) or funded energy solutions would be advantageous.
  • Experience using CRM software .
  • A professional, organised and self-motivated approach.
  • A full UK driving licence.

What We Offer

  • Competitive basic salary (£45,000–£60,000 depending on experience)
  • Commission structure
  • Company vehicle
  • Company pension
  • Mobile phone and laptop
  • Bupa Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) – confidential 24/7 support for you and your household

  • Genuine career progression within a rapidly expanding renewable energy business

Why Join Flare?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing renewable energy contractor at a pivotal stage of its development.

You'll inherit an established client base, active opportunities and an existing CRM pipeline while having the freedom to develop your own relationships and shape the future direction of the business.

Unlike many business development roles, this position focuses on developing long-term partnerships rather than high-volume transactional sales.

Many of our projects evolve over several months, allowing you to work closely with developers, consultants, architects, EPC contractors and main contractors from the early design stages through to project delivery.

Reporting directly to the Directors, you'll have genuine influence over how the company continues to grow.

As Flare expands its commercial Solar PV, Battery Storage and LED lighting divisions, you'll play a key role in that journey while being rewarded directly for your success through a commission structure.

If you're looking for a role where your contribution is recognised, your ideas are valued and your earning potential reflects your performance, we'd love to hear from you.
