Job Purpose: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Digital Engineer to join our technical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of GPS and machine control systems across our fleet. This role is crucial in ensuring the precision and efficiency of earthmoving operations and maintaining our commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and calibrate GPS and machine control systems (e.g., Trimble, Topcon, Leica) on various plant machinery.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting services to clients and operators on-site and remotely.
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks on GPS systems to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
  • Work closely with site managers, surveyors, and machine operators to ensure GPS solutions meet site specifications.
  • Train plant operators and staff on the use of machine control systems and software.
  • Maintain accurate records of installations, calibrations, and service reports.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in machine control and positioning technologies.
  • Collaborate with the operations and hire desk teams to ensure timely deployment of GPS-equipped machines.
  • Handle data and install DTM files to machines and prepare and check customer information using CAD office.
  • Create avoidance zones and train in the use of file import and export for machine GPS.
  • Establish site control, install GPS Base Stations, localise GPS machinery, and carry out site checks using Leica and Trimble Total Station and GPS Survey equipment.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience with GPS machine control systems (Trimble, Topcon, or Leica preferred).
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience with Survey Equipment, GPS, Lasers Total Stations and Detection equipment.
  • Great attitude, must be willing to listen and learn.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel to sites across the UK as needed.
  • Full UK driving license.

Desirable:

  • Relevant engineering or surveying qualifications.
  • Experience with telematics and data management platforms.
  • CSCS card or equivalent construction site accreditation.
