As a Plant Fitter/Mechanic with Flannery Plant Hire you will carry out inspection, maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair of plant machinery and associated attachments across our depot network and on customer sites. You will ensure machines are maintained to manufacturer and company standards, support fleet availability, and provide timely technical support to colleagues and customers. The role involves workshop-based work together with regular travel to sites across the UK and Ireland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake routine servicing, scheduled maintenance and remedial repairs on a wide range of plant machinery including excavators, telehandlers, rollers and associated attachments.
  • Carry out fault diagnosis on mechanical, hydraulic and basic electrical systems, using appropriate diagnostic tools and manufacturer documentation.
  • Repair or replace components such as pumps, valves, engines, transmissions, hydraulic hoses and fittings, ensuring work meets safety and quality standards.
  • Perform pre-delivery and post-repair checks, complete work sheets and record service history accurately using company systems.
  • Strip down and rebuild units where necessary, and liaise with parts and procurement teams to ensure timely availability of spares.
  • Fit and remove attachments safely, check correct fitment and carry out adjustments or repairs as required.
  • Support depot and site teams with vehicle and machine marshalling, loading for transport and basic on-site assistance when required.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies and safe working practices, participate in toolbox talks and complete risk assessments as required.
  • Provide professional technical advice to customers and colleagues, demonstrating the company’s commitment to service and standards.
  • Keep up to date with manufacturer guidance, technical bulletins and attend relevant training to maintain competence.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Proven experience as a plant fitter, mechanic or similar role within plant, construction or civil engineering environments.
  • Relevant NVQ/City
