As a Buyer, you will support the procurement of plant machinery, attachments, spare parts, and maintenance services essential to the company’s nationwide hire fleet. This role focuses on ensuring equipment availability, minimising downtime, and supporting operational efficiency across depots and sites.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in sourcing and purchasing plant equipment, parts, and consumables
- Procure spare parts for heavy plant such as excavators, dumpers, and telehandlers
- Raise and manage purchase orders for plant-related goods and services
- Liaise with suppliers for plant parts, fuel, tyres, and servicing requirements
- Track deliveries to depots and sites, ensuring minimal disruption to operations
- Support fleet maintenance by ensuring timely ordering of replacement parts
- Monitor stock levels of critical plant components and consumables
- Build relationships with plant manufacturers, distributors, and service providers
- Ensure compliance with company procurement processes and health & safety standards
- Interest in plant hire, construction equipment, or mechanical environments
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills when dealing with suppliers and site teams
- Basic understanding of plant machinery (or willingness to learn)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and procurement systems
