If you hold a full UK driving licence and like the idea of a working week that is never spent in one building, read on. A medically led private healthcare provider in Oxfordshire is hiring a community support worker to run health checks with people where they work and live, and Flamingo Workforce is recruiting for them. The licence is not a nice extra Much of the job happens on the road. You will travel between workplaces, community venues and a mobile health unit across Oxfordshire, and on some days you will drive that unit yourself. Your licence needs to be full, valid and cover the van, and you need to be happy covering the county from Oxford out to the market towns. What the appointments involve Each appointment is a Health MOT. You explain what the checks involve and get consent, then take blood pressure, height, weight, BMI and waist measurements and record them accurately on a digital system. You will talk through smoking, alcohol, activity and mental wellbeing with each person, explain what their results mean, give short practical lifestyle advice and point them to the right service when something needs following up. Clinical, safeguarding and escalation procedures are written down and you work within them, often on your own. Who does well here Support workers and healthcare assistants fit naturally, and so do people from fitness or wellbeing backgrounds. You need a Level 3 qualification in healthcare, health and social care, beauty, aesthetics, fitness or wellbeing, or equivalent experience, plus time spent working with patients, clients or the public. Someone who can hear about a stranger’s drinking or weight without a flicker of judgement will settle in quickly. Experience of clinical observations, occupational health or behaviour change work helps but is not required, because role specific training and a structured induction are provided. Salary and the rest of the package This is a full time, permanent post paying £25,000 to £28,000 a year depending on experience. You also get BUPA healthcare, a pension, 21 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays rising by a day each year to 25, a day off on your birthday, gym vouchers, golf and discounts at the provider’s own clinics
