Offering £57,221 to £69,701 per annum, dependent on experience and based on a 40-hour week, this position would suit a qualified professional seeking a patient-centred community practice with strong clinical standards and opportunities for continued development.

Reporting to the Practice Manager, you will provide comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens appointments and other services, such as dry eye consultations, where appropriately qualified. You will promote eye health, advise patients on visual wellbeing and preventative care, and make clear recommendations focused on their individual needs.

The role involves working closely with Dispensing Opticians and support colleagues to ensure a smooth patient journey. You will maintain accurate patient records, use and maintain knowledge of specialist equipment including OCT, fundus cameras, tonometry and visual fields, and practise in line with General Optical Council regulations. You will also contribute to clinical governance, quality assurance, continuing professional development and the ongoing growth of the practice through excellent patient care and communication.

Our client operates within the optometry and hearing care sector, providing community-based services through a local practice environment. The organisation places emphasis on high professional standards, customer care and a supportive team culture, with clinical and retail colleagues working together to deliver effective patient outcomes.

The role includes professional fees for GOC and AOP membership, education and training support, CPD events, a company pension scheme with Life Assurance, 33 days’ holiday including bank holidays, company sick pay, as well as other various benefits and career progression opportunities. Sunday and bank holiday working are not required, and the position includes one Saturday off each month.

You must hold a BSc (Hons) in Optometry or an equivalent degree and be registered with the General Optical Council as a qualified Optometrist. Previous clinical experience in a community practice is required, while additional accreditations such as GRR or Post Cataract would be beneficial.

You will bring strong clinical ability, clear communication and effective interpersonal skills, together with an empathetic and professional approach to patient care. Accuracy in record-keeping, the ability to collaborate with clinical and retail teams, sound time management and the capacity to work under pressure are important. You should also demonstrate a commitment to CPD and professional growth.

This role would suit an Optometrist who values high-quality clinical care and enjoys working as part of a supportive local team. It may appeal to someone looking for a permanent community practice position offering variety, professional development and a balanced working pattern.
