Flame Health Optical Sales have been instructed to work with a leading, innovative, contact lens business on a Business Development Manager position covering Bromley and the wider South East territory. This is a home-based field role offering a salary of £45,000 to £48,000, plus up to £10,000 bonus and an electric car, and it will suit a commercially minded sales professional with account management and a consultative approach.
The role is focused on building territory performance, developing customer relationships and driving growth across a defined geographic area. It will appeal to someone who brings presence and gravitas to meetings, and who is comfortable working across customer visits, virtual contact and phone-based engagement.
About the Job
This position carries responsibility for annual sales of between £2.5m and £5m across an agreed territory. Day to day, you will manage customers, represent the business as the principal point of contact, and work closely with the UK Commercial and Marketing and Professional Services team to deliver agreed activity.
You will support Owners, Practice and Store Managers, ECPs and front of house teams, with a focus on growing the contact lens category and improving sales performance. The role also includes introducing new products, maintaining strong knowledge of product strategy, clinical and technical information, and delivering training in liaison with the Professional Services team.
You will work through a blended contact strategy of face-to-face, virtual and phone meetings, maintain CRM records accurately, attend seminars and exhibitions where required, and keep customer service levels aligned to account needs.

What We Are Looking For
You will need demonstrable experience in a professional sales environment, with a track record of defining and achieving sales results. A background in account management, consultative selling and relationship-led development is important, along with the ability to influence at different levels and communicate with confidence.
Strong interpersonal skills, listening ability and a coaching style are all essential, as is an understanding of investigative questioning and the sales process. You should be highly proactive, self-motivated and able to organise your own workload across a large geographical area. Experience in the optical industry is preferable, and computer literacy, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, is essential. A degree is preferred, or optical qualifications.
