Job Overview
Flame Health Optometry has been instructed to recruit an Optical Assistant for a permanent full-time or part-time position in Norwich, offering Β£26,000 to Β£28,000 per year. This opportunity suits someone who takes pride in delivering five-star customer service, has a positive attitude, and is willing to learn; previous optical experience is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided.
About the Job
The Optical Assistant will support the day-to-day operation of an optical practice, carrying out pre-screening and reception duties while helping customers receive a professional and welcoming service.
The position offers the opportunity to develop beyond these initial responsibilities, with scope to progress into dispensing fine eyewear and potentially move into hearing care.
The successful candidate will work in person and receive training designed to build confidence in the role. A willingness to learn and a strong approach to customer service are central to the position. The role is available on either a full-time or part-time basis and is offered as a permanent appointment.
About the Employer
Our client operates in the optometry sector and provides optical services to customers in Norwich. The practice places significant value on service quality, attitude, and the development of its people, offering training to candidates who may not have previous optical experience.
The package includes a company pension, employee and store discounts, sick pay, discounted or free food, a cycle-to-work scheme, and company events. These benefits complement a position that provides the opportunity to broaden expertise across optical dispensing and hearing care.
What We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will have a genuine commitment to delivering five-star customer service, together with a positive attitude and willingness to learn. Previous optical experience is preferred but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
You should be comfortable supporting reception and pre-screening duties and interested in developing your knowledge of dispensing fine eyewear. The position may also suit someone who would like to progress into hearing care in the future. [Suggestion: Clear communication, a personable manner, and a reliable approach would support success in this customer-facing role.]
Who This Role Suits
This position is suited to someone at the beginning of, or looking to develop, a career in optical services, as well as an experienced optical professional seeking a broader remit. It will appeal to a candidate motivated by customer contact, practical learning, and the opportunity to progress into dispensing and hearing care.
Job Location
The position is based in Norwich, Norfolk, with work carried out in person at the practice.
