Flame Health Optometry have been instructed to recruit an Optometrist for a practice in New Romney, Kent, with a guide salary of up to £70,000 per annum. This role will suit a qualified clinician who wants to broaden their clinical scope in a supportive independent setting, with interest in dry eye, contact lens, or front‑of‑eye care.

You will join a busy independent clinic where appointments are 45 minutes and are typically booked two to three weeks in advance. The caseload centres on dry eye, contact lens and myopia care for more than 800 Care Plan members, with new patients referred in by the resident Optometrist following eye examinations. Day to day, you will monitor ongoing cases and provide dry eye treatment using Zest, NuLids and punctum plugging. The work also includes myopia control for younger patients and coloured overlays. For an Optometrist, three to four clinics each week would focus on front‑of‑eye care rather than refraction, with scope to add another eye examination clinic and cover Saturdays with a mix of dry eye and refraction. Full training will be provided.

Our client is a long‑established independent eye care practice with a well‑developed dry eye and contact lens service. The clinical team is settled and includes a resident Optometrist, two trained Optical Assistants and one Dispensing Optician, creating an environment where specialist work can remain the focus. The practice has two fully equipped consulting rooms and modern diagnostic equipment including Zeiss video slit lamps, a Zeiss digital testing chart, a choice of digital phoropter or trial frame, MYAH, a Zeiss Cirrus OCT and Optomap. It operates Monday to Saturday, closes on Bank Holidays, and also closes between Christmas and New Year, with that time paid and not taken from the usual holiday allowance. Additional benefits include a bonus scheme, fees paid, free parking, private health care and alternate half‑day Saturdays.

We are looking for a qualified Optometrist, with current UK registration expected for the role, alongside clinical interest, a collaborative approach and a willingness to develop. The successful person will be able to work at least three days per week plus alternate Saturdays, and will be comfortable with start and finish times that can be shaped around childcare or similar commitments. Above all, our client is looking for a permanent member of the team who is ready to invest for the long term and help the practice continue to grow.

This role suits a clinician who wants more depth in front‑of‑eye work and is keen to build on experience in dry eye, contact lens or myopia care. It will appeal to someone looking for stability, training and a practice where long‑term contribution is valued.

The practice is based in New Romney, Kent, with straightforward access for candidates living in the surrounding Kent area. It is a town setting with a clear community feel and practical local connections.
