Main Purpose of the Role
To provide high-quality clinical assistance to practice clinicians while maintaining excellent standards of care, infection control, and patient support within a busy dental practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the clinical environment and dental equipment
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures
- Provide chairside support during dental treatments
- Assist with dental charting and oral tissue assessments
- Prepare, mix, and handle dental biomaterials
- Prepare for and assist with dental radiography, including processing radiographs
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
- Monitor, support, and reassure patients throughout their visit
- Provide appropriate oral health advice to patients
- Support the dental team during medical emergencies
- Make referrals to other healthcare professionals where appropriate
