Key Responsibilities:

  • Facility Setup & Management: Lead the setup of a new compounding facility, ensuring it meets industry standards. Oversee day-to-day operations to guarantee efficiency and quality.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Serve as the primary liaison with MHRA, GPhC, and other regulatory bodies. Manage the application and approval process for all necessary licenses, including the production of 'specials.' Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Team Leadership: Recruit, hire, train, and manage a skilled team of pharmacy professionals. Provide ongoing coaching and development to maintain a high-performing team.
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Develop, implement, and maintain all SOPs to ensure consistent, high-quality production. Regularly review and update procedures in line with regulatory changes and best practices.
  • Research & Development: Drive innovation through the research and development of new pharmaceutical formulations. Collaborate with prescribers to design and recommend tailored compounding solutions for patients.
  • Quality Control: Oversee quality control measures to ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards. Conduct regular audits to identify and address any deviations or risks.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • Demonstrable experience of developing a new clinical/commercial compounding facility
  • Degree in Pharmacy (MPharm or equivalent)
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Proven experience in compounding pharmacy

Preferred:

  • Background as an industrial pharmacist
  • Experience with the production of 'specials'
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory frameworks in the UK
