The Role

As an Optical Assistant, you will play an important role in ensuring patients receive a welcoming and professional experience from the moment they enter the practice. Working closely with the wider team, you will support the smooth day‑to‑day operation of the practice through excellent customer service and efficient administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing a warm and professional welcome to patients and visitors
  • Managing reception and front‑of‑house duties
  • Answering telephone calls and responding to patient enquiries
  • Booking and coordinating appointments
  • Maintaining accurate patient records
  • Handling administrative tasks and practice correspondence
  • Processing payments and supporting daily practice administration
  • Keeping the reception area organised and welcoming
  • Supporting the efficient day‑to‑day running of the practice

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience in customer service, reception, retail or an optical environment would be advantageous
  • Friendly, approachable and professional manner
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational and administrative abilities
  • Confident using computer systems and practice software
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team
  • Reliable, motivated and committed to delivering outstanding patient care
